The Imperial in Malta Offers a Haven to a Relaxed Retirement
Melanie Jacobs offers industry insight into what makes the Malta the perfect retirement spot
By Melanie Jacobs
Melanie Jacobs is the General Manager of The Imperial in Sliema, a residential care home that has been recently opened by St George’s Care, the operator of the elderly home Casa Antonia. Building on the two-decade-long values of the group and her extensive professional experience in the United Kingdom, South Africa and now Malta, Mrs. Jacobs offers industry insight into what makes the Mediterranean Island the perfect spot for retiring.
Despite the ample changes Malta has gone through in the past years, the island nation offers an unhurried lifestyle and friendly atmosphere, providing the perfect opportunity and setting to relax and make the most of retired life.
In this context, The Imperial, thanks to its calm unique surroundings, is truly a place where residents can enjoy a carefree lifestyle with the utmost freedom. We work around the residents’ routines in our care home that is connected to the outdoors—society and social life is always just a stone’s throw away. The Coronavirus pandemic has brought restrictions to our life and bringing the outside world to our residents has been challenging lately, however, with seeing the silver lining, we have plenty of plans and goals for the future.
In the meantime, the indoor world of The Imperial has delivered a great variety of facilities for the residents to enjoy. Residents can use relaxing rooms and communal areas that all have their own individual styles as they please. We also offer first-class service, quality care and exceptional nursing so residents can maintain their independence.
Once Covid has been brought to bay, our hair salon and coffee shop will open for people from the external community to come and visit. We will also shortly launch the members club where people can come and use the pool and gym facilities, attend social events and even dine in the restaurant.
Seeing all the effort of our tight-knit and professional staff, I see working at St. George’s Care as a privilege. I know that every request a resident would have is going to be listened to and considered. Wherever possible, things are arranged or changed to meet these requests.
The company has the residents at heart. As a young team, we have a lot of suggestions. We try everything and apply whatever we see works the best. At The Imperial, and its sister home Casa Antonia, we offer excellent, encompassing care and service options to suit one’s particular needs.
