St George’s Care offers space and time for post-surgical rehabilitation
Casa Antonia and The Imperial are offering tailor-made post-surgical operations rehabilitation packages in its residential homes.
St George’s Care, the operators of Casa Antonia in Balzan and The Imperial in Sliema, are offering tailor-made post-surgical operations rehabilitation packages in its residential homes. The highly trained and dedicated staff of Casa Antonia and The Imperial, based on decades-long experience and excellent geriatric care, can assist people with their post-surgical convalescence by enabling high levels of independence.
Taking the necessary healing time in a tranquil space is essential for people to properly recuperate following major surgeries. Scientific research has shown that continuing with a ‘business as usual’ approach immediately following a major surgery can lead to harm to an individual’s physical and mental health. With this in mind, Casa Antonia and The Imperial now offer customised services to people to assist their healing and swift recovery by taking care, amongst others, of their meal preparation, cleaning, and entertainment needs.
Single or shared rooms, all equipped with air-conditioning and ceiling fans, are available for immediate booking. The rehabilitation packages include all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), daily room cleaning, linen and towel change, access to all facilities and Wi-Fi, room TV with 50 channels, and independent use of indoor pool and gym. All bathrooms are furnished with grabrails to support independent movement, while a fridge, kettle, and sink are provided in each room. An underground car park is available onsite with pay machines located inside the home.
On admission, an on-site physiotherapist will offer a complimentary assessment while dedicated physio packages can be arranged for weekly sessions of in-room therapy, hydrotherapy, or treatment in the gym or clinics. Each room is equipped with an emergency call bell to which nurses and carers on 24 hours duty will respond. Onsite nurses take care of dressings, do continuous monitoring and liaise with medical professionals on behalf of recovering residents. General Practitioners and medical consultants, including podiatrists, speech and language therapists regularly visit the residential homes.
“We offer customised care, as we understand individual people require individual care. Once the convalescence period comes to a successful end, we encourage our residents to get back on their feet as soon as they can to enable them to reclaim their independence,” said Melanie Jacobs, General Manager of The Imperial in Sliema.
Casa Antonia and The Imperial are not simply caring homes. They are homes that genuinely care. Based on the decades-long experience of excellent care by St George’s Care Ltd, we pay special attention to active ageing for the benefit of our residents.
