Refurbished Imperial to Open Doors into Excellent Care
The new residence adopts the more than two-decade-long expertise
As renovations are finishing up in the heart of Sliema, the old Imperial Hotel is being revived into a bespoke residential home for the elderly. The Imperial is being refurbished to an exceptional standard, whilst retaining the magnificent architecture and vintage grandeur of an accommodation establishment that breathes history and tradition. The iconic establishment will be run by the same management who, for the last 20 years, managed Casa Antonia in Balzan ensuring a continuation of tailor-made personal care for the elderly.
First owned by Pietru Pawlu Galea, the three properties, originally built for Galea’s children, were turned into a hunting and shooting lodge. In 1874, the Sliema Shooting Club with its large gardens was transformed into a grand hotel: The Modern Imperial Hotel.
The Imperial, now poised as a modern state-of-the-art elderly care home, consists of single rooms, double rooms and suites with 6,000 square meters of facilities and includes a three-storey underground car park. The rooms are stylishly decorated with kitchenette facilities, fully furnished with armchairs, wardrobes, beds, bedside cabinets and built-in vanity units. The facilities include digital television sets, WiFi access, telephone, ceiling fans and air conditioning. Every room has an en-suite bathroom and a nurse call system. The elegant larger suites’ sitting area and terraces with spectacular views ensure quality relaxation time.
Throughout its history, The Imperial has been praised for its cuisine. Head Chef Glenn Bartolo expertise and dedication will ensure that residents enjoy delicious, nutritious and balanced meals throughout the day. Using only the freshest ingredients, daily meals will be prepared on-site, accompanied by snacks and beverages throughout day and night. Specific dietary requirements will be catered for with a wide variety of recipes suited for vegetarians, and residents with dysphagia or allergies.
At The Imperial, the residents are at the heart of everyday operations to provide person-centred care. Every resident benefits from a unique, customised plan of care, taking into account their preferences, tastes, welfare and social needs.
The Imperial is not simply a care home: it is a home that cares. Its sister home, Casa Antonia, has offered excellent care for decades, and The Imperial is adopting the same ethos and support to offer a full spectrum of care and service options to suit one’s particular needs.
